Too much discussion takes place about guns and shooting equipment that really doesn’t matter too much. What I mean by that is that it doesn’t help your ability to shoot and defend yourself too much. My guest, Jon Hodoway, on this show really makes this point quite nicely. He also recently won the Central Florida Tactical Conference shooting match. He’s also a firearms trainer for the Massad Ayoob Group. Among other topics such as Glocks that sometimes jam, range rental guns, how to test a gun, and the Ron Avery drill, we spend quite a bit of time talking about the less than important stuff that internet ninja’s and internet commandos spend a lot of time on. You may find yourself asking the question, what should I really do to improve my defensive shooting skills? I think you will find that answer in this podcast. – Bob Mayne, Handgun World Show

What happens when someone shoots a Glock for the first time and when someone shoots a Beretta for the first time? Tune in to find out. James and I went to a Fort Worth shooting range. There’s a lot of talk about the grip angle of a Glock and the DA/SA trigger of a Beretta being difficult to shoot. We tried our best to do some myth busting. It’s not a scientific test, but at least an attempt to show what first time shooters of each gun can experience. James shot my Glock 19 and I shot his Beretta PX4 subcompact.

Analyzing practical shooting down to every detail is what Steven Zopfi and I attempt to do here. He’s been a longtime shooter (18 years) and is an IPSC Master Class shooter. He also has listened to this show for quite some time and has some real good insights on how to shoot effectively. You will really enjoy this interview and especially if you are involved in the shooting sports like IDPA, USPSA.

Grip angle is talked about so much I couldn’t ignore it so here’s a show about my thoughts on whether your pistol’s grip angle makes a difference in your shooting. Obviously when grip angle is discussed, 99% of the time people compare Glocks to 1911’s. So tune in for my thoughts on that.
Also…are video games firearms trainers? Tune in, the answer may surprise you.
