The SIG P238 seems to be the most popular .380acp autopistol on the market today.   I recently purchased one, so I will give you and open and honest review based on personal experience nothing more, nothing less.  That’s the first half of the show, the second half is about overcoming shooter anxiety and some more listener feedback. I also discuss a little bit about Open Carry.

Highlights:

  • Why I like the SIG P238
  • Why at first I thought it was an expensive mistake.
  • Review of the pistol after 250 rounds in one range session.
  • Why some people get nervous in competition shooting.
  • How to overcome the jitters and nerves.
  • What to do if you’re carjacked at gunpoint.

Very timely discussion about shooter anxiety Bob. I’m an instructor for an IPSC101 training class (to introduce new shooters to USPSA competition) and was asked about how to deal with this least weekend.

I know how to teach fundamental shooting skills…I know how to teach advanced shooting techniques….I can explain how 90% of shooting is mental (and the other half is physical…to quote Yogi Berra)…but when asked “how do deal with nervousness”….well that question left me stumped. You presented a lot of good suggestions on how to deal with it. Probably the key point is…you’re only competiting against yourself….don’t concern yourself with what others are doing, saying or thinking.

I had a feeling you might get a 238 after you held that one at the range.

I saw your video about the P238 and was curious if you had any problems with yours, other than it prefering certain ammos? I recently purchased one and then I saw several videos with shooters complaining about them. Just wondering, I havnt been able to shoot mine yet, so its not that I am having problems, just curiosity. Love your podcast Bob. Actually I listen to yours and Eric Shelton’s religiously. Keep them coming.

No other problems other than it’s ammo finicky. Great shooting gun though.
