This episode is about red dot optics on pistols and a review of the SIG 556 rifle. There’s a huge movement to putting red dot optics onepistolary just like those on rifles. This episode explains why and what products to consider. Jack Rumbaugh is my guest again to discuss both of these weapon systems. Thanks for downloading and listening.

Recent events lately have stirred up a lot of conversation about mass shootings. Thanks to a listener on Facebook, I’ve decided to change my terminology and call them active killers instead of active shooters. So Jack Rumbaugh is my guest to talk about recent events, how to prepare yourself for the unfortunate situation if you’re in an active killer situation. You and I are shooters, the people who commit these heinous acts are killers, plain and simple. Thanks for downloading and listening, Bob Mayne

Active shooter situations like the recent Aurora Colorado movie theater shooting and the recent shooting at the Sikh Temple in Wisconsin seem to really make people stop and think about their safety and how they plan to keep themselves safe. They almost always lead to more gun sales and more ammo sales. The main topic of this episode is a discussion of how the shooting in Colorado has changed my outlook on concealed carry, training and self defense. How has it changed you? This episode also begins with some listener voice mails. Thanks for downloading and listening. Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Podcast

Speed Sights are a new sighting concept. I have 2 sets of them. One of them has been sent to me for testing and evaluation. It’s hard to find a set of sights that give me extremely fast front sight acquisition and the ability to take a precision shot and have tritium inserts for lowlight conditions. I really believe Speed Sights give me all 3. I’m very impressed with them. So Don, the owner of Speed Sights is my guest on this episode. We discuss how the human eye works when using sights to fire a handgun. Thanks for downloading and listening, Bob Mayne, Handgunworld Podcast

This episode does not have one single topic. A couple of listeners called in some voice mails about 1911’s and a close call with a potential bad guy. Then Ben Branam and I discussed guns we want to purchase, tactical pens, holsters and training. So between my answers to the voice mails and the interview with Ben, it turned into a mixed bag of topics. Links can be found on the GRRN forum. Thanks for listening. Ep. 186 – Low Light Gunfighting (Night Fighting)

It’s often said that most gunfights happen at night or in low light. Yet most people don’t train in low light situations regularly. If all you do is practice in daylight, how will you be confident enough to hit your target if, God forbid, your attacked at night? So, Roger Phillips is my guest on this episode to discuss this subject. He teaches a lot of low light and night fighting courses. This episode will probably make you re-think a few things about how you practice and what gear you choose for your handgun.

A lot of myths about firearms and ammunition are perpetuated on the internet or in gun stores and gun shows. Recently I was at a gun shop and overheard a gun sales clerk give some very bad information to a new gun buyer. So that motivated me to make a list of incorrect firearms information commonly said by internet commandos, gun store clerks or the general public. The problem is that once these myths are told often enough and spread far enough, people start to believe them. So this episode is dedicated to busting those myths. If you know someone new to handguns please ask them to listen to this episode. This episode is released earlier than usual because I’ve got a couple of really good interviews coming up that I want you to hear soon. What will you do if you have to fight to your handgun? It seems like a lot of people train to fight with their handgun, but what if your attackers are trying to prevent you from accessing your handgun? Do you know how to handle that? In this episode I discuss that subject with a review of some training. Also, Alan from Utah, a listener sent me a pretty good voice mail about 2nd Amendment issues and a Wilderness Tactical SafePacker. Thanks for downloading and listening, Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Podcast
