Old guns are fun to talk about and also fun to shoot. Not only are they pieces of history, but many old guns are well made. In this show, I interview Rick Breneman again, he’s one of the hosts of the Power Factor Show on GRRN. He’s an accumulator and shooter of old, historic firearms. So this is sort of a Part 2 of the interview from a few weeks ago. We cover some more information on shooting, reloading and collecting old guns. We discuss military surplus rifles, old 1911’s and shooting them. We also get a little off topic and talk about the .357SIG. Will it be obscure in the future? Then we tie it in to shooting old guns in competition and carrying them for self defense. There are actually 2 interviews in this show, the 2nd one is regarding classification in IDPA and USPSA, with Steve Zopfi of the Power Factor Show. Please remember to join me at the GRRN Forum and also consider an investment in version one of my CD/Digital download. Version 2 will be available in about 2 weeks. 50% of proceeds benefit the Second Amendment Foundation. Thanks for listening.

Eric Shelton from the Handgun Podcast joins me this week to discuss our podcasts, how they came about, why we do this and how we are similar, yet different in a few ways. We discuss ideas about concealed carry guns, holster, sights, lights on guns, revolvers, sights, trigger pulls and more. We agree on some things and differ on others but I have to let you know that Eric’s show has certainly been an inspiration to me and one of the influences that made me start this podcast. Eric and I also discuss why we like to carry a Glock 19 and how I started shooting 1911’s in IDPA. For those of you that don’t know, Eric’s show is also part of the Gun Rights Radio Network. Last Friday I was on his podcast, so you may want to listen to that first, because this is sort of a “Part 2” of that episode. Both interviews were recorded at the same time.

Thanks for listening,

Listener feedback and comments are the topics this week. I’ve received a lot of emails and first let me say thank you! In this show I talk about a mixed bag of gun talk again, why I have 3 CCW licenses, Springfield XDM’s, Revolvers and some corrections to my revolver episode, open carry in Wisconsin, ammo recoil, self training with a handgun, gun free zones, IDPA and more. I’ll even discuss a listener’s email as to why he carries, it’s a good story, you’ll want to hear it. They are all in response to you, the loyal listener. Please remember to join me at the Gun Rights Radio Network Forum. I also cover some constructive criticism and compliments. I appreciate the feedback because it helps me improve the show. You can also find me on YouTube and on Facebook and Twitter.

What happens when someone shoots a Glock for the first time and when someone shoots a Beretta for the first time? Tune in to find out. James and I went to a Fort Worth shooting range. There’s a lot of talk about the grip angle of a Glock and the DA/SA trigger of a Beretta being difficult to shoot. We tried our best to do some myth busting. It’s not a scientific test, but at least an attempt to show what first time shooters of each gun can experience. James shot my Glock 19 and I shot his Beretta PX4 subcompact.

Thanks for listening, don’t forget the Freedom Raffle, time is running out! Also remember to join me at the Gun Rights Radio Network Forum.

How many handguns do you need?  You may think I’m foolish to try to answer this question, but I take a risk and try to answer it!  In this podcast I talk determining how many you should buy and also talk about states that limit sales to one per month.  I also differentiate between the specific uses of your handgun and how that might affect your decision.  Good luck!

Highlights:

  • The one gun per month sales restriction.
  • Defensive handgun or survival handgun?
  • Should spouses have the same caliber or same handgun?
  • Do you need a specific training gun?
