“They do not know, what they do not know.” That’s the unfortumate status of the naysayers of point shooting. In this episode, Roger Phillips joins me for part 2 of our point shooting dicsussion. Back in Episode 150 he laid down the ground work for the point shooting discussion. This episode is a continuation. We discuss subjects like low light point shooting, keys to a reactive gunfight, hand eye coordination and a lot more. It will probably make you less concerned about the sights on your handgun and more concerned about improving your ability to shoot it. Links will be posted on the GRRN forum. Thanks for downloading and listening.

Sometimes I have a couple of pieces of gun related material that I can’t make a complete podcast episode out of, but I want to put it out there. This is one of those times. So this isn’t a real episode, but rather a bonus podcast. Don’t expect this every week though, OK? It starts with a lunchtime discusion with a couple shooting buddies, then turns into a response to a listener email and a book that was sent to me. Primarily, it’s about how gun owners tend to let emotions rule their decision making when buying or evaluating a gun. Warning! This is NOT politically correct. Ben Branam joins me again for our once a month discussion about concealed carry and gun related stuff. We discussed buying handguns, shotguns (again) , Glock triggers, an experience he had as an armored car guard, 1911’s, and an upcoming carbine match. Also, Jerry from St. Louis submitted an audio clip review of one of my podcasts. Thanks for downloading and listening. I received 2 excellent pieces of audio from a couple of listeners. One is a pistol packing preacher and the other likes his Glock 32 and he’s a fellow Texan. I also covered some emails I’ve received and discuss some more information about defensive shotguns. Next week, get ready for a cool interview with Dr. John Meade, Tactical Medicine Instructor and author. Until then, I know you’ll enjoy this episode and many thanks to all who contributed this material. Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Show

A real gunfight is described by Ben Branam. In this episode we will discuss what a person thinks during a real gunfight, the reflexive responses that take place during a real gunfight and how a person defaults to their level of training. Ben has been in several gunfights and clearly describes one of them in this podcast. Whether you’re a civilian, law enforcement officer or a military person, you should gain some very valuable insight from this podcast. As I’ve mentioned many times, I hope I never have to use a firearm in self defense, but my quest to be an consistent student of concealed carry and self defense, I decided to seek the experience of someone who has been in this situation. I firmly believe you’ll enjoy this show and you will also hear a surprising admission by Ben, regarding action shooting and combat! We make sacrifices when we decide to carry a gun. It changes our lifestyle, our clothing, out situational awareness and even the places we go to. So this episode is dedicated to making the choice to carry a gun and what comes with that choice in terms of personal responsibility. I also get into the subject of what gun to carry and when. Perhaps nothing is more important when using your handgun to defend yourself, as busting off the X. In this episode, I discuss a recent training class I took and how much it helped me learn that not getting shot is probably just as important as being able to shoot well. In the unfortunate situation of having to defend yourself with a gun, do you know how to avoid getting shot too? I also discuss long range pistol shooting and give you a recap of the training class and even a restaurant tip. A couple of fellow students also joined me for an interview at Suarez International’s Advanced Close Range Gunfigthing course. Thanks for listening and remember to check the GRRN forum for links. Also, there’s less than 2 weeks left to get in on my drawing on December 16th, 2011. It requires an investment in my Shooter’s club podcast, but I’ve just increased the amount of giveaways. Eric Shelton (former host of The Handgun Podcast) Gail Pepin of the Pro Arms Podcast, Mark Vanderberg, host of the Gun Rights Radio Network, Larry Peikarski and Matt and Shane (2 loyal GRRN listeners) and ME, entertain you with a recap of the Gun Rights Policay conference, in our own words. Tune in for a lot of fun and some thoughtful discussion on the gun rights issue and….what about the Litigation Gorilla? (at the end of the show.) Tell me what you think. Is Alan Gura the litigation gorilla? I think he is, you be the judge. Next week, I guarantee I will cover lots of listener emails and questions. Picking a handgun is sometimes a tough choice. I’m often asked, “what handgun do you think I should buy?” It’s nearly impossible for me to answer that, because everyone has different hand sizes, finger lengths, needs, wants and body shapes. Well, a listener named Paul from Maryland sent me an audio explanation of a method of weighing the must haves and wants and it’s a pretty cool and well thought out method of selecting a handgun. So you’ll hear that and also a little bit of my explanation of why I carry what I do. The main point of this podcast is that you don’t necessarily want to listen to friends or relatives opinion of what gun is best for you. I would also suggest staying away from being convinced by all of the fancy marketing that gun manufacturers tend to put out. Hopefully in this show you’ll be able to use this method to make an informed decision. And as always, I welcome your feedback either in audio form or written form. Thanks for listening and shoot safe, Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Show.

The Gun Control subject is a touchy one. So many opinions. But one fact is clear, the 2nd amendment is an individual right and that has now been upheld by the SCOTUS. But in this episode I have a little fun with the gun control discussion. So there’s a little humor in this show and also some serious discussion. I found some good audio soundbites of some well known people and some anonymous people on the subject of Gun Control. Some news interviews too. I think you’ll enjoy them. Last week I took a trip to Montreal, Canada for the entire week on business. Therefore I was not able to carry my gun. It gave me a feeling of being naked, without it. Once concealed carry becomes a habit and part of your wardrobe and your lifestyle, have you ever noticed that if you don’t carry your gun, you get the feeling that something is missing? I did, so I decided to make that the main topic of this episode. Once carrying a gun becomes second nature, you’ll probably notice this. Also, aren’t there times when one needs to downsize their firearm, depending on their activity and mode of dress required? I think the answer is yes. So you won’t feel naked because you’re not carrying a gun. Some experts say “dress around your gun” which is fine in theory, but there are times when that’s just not possible, so I discuss that too. Remember to check out the Gun Rights Radio Network forum to find out the winner of the free ticket to Suarez International’s Close Range Gunfighting course in Dallas on May 28th and 29th and the High Noon holsters I’m giving away. This is a sequel to the Women and Guns podcast I did last year. But I felt compelled to put out more information on this subject because I feel strongly about women carry a gun for self protection. So, I interviewed a woman who is a firearms trainer, excellent shooter and big advocate for a woman’s right to defend herself with a firearm. Guy, pay attention to this episode if you have a woman in your life that is interested in concealed carry and shooting. If she’s thinking about what type of firearm to buy, this will be a good episode for her to listen to. Andrea Clark’s website is called F.A.S.T. Defense (Firearms, Awareness and Safety training.) I also answer some listener questions in this episode. Please remember to join the GRRN forum if you haven’t already. Also, version 2 of my “Shooter’s Club” Exclusive Podcast will be releasing on March 15th. Check the website at HandgunWorld.com for details and subject matter. Thanks for downloading andlistening and safe shooting.
