This episode is about red dot optics on pistols and a review of the SIG 556 rifle. There’s a huge movement to putting red dot optics onepistolary just like those on rifles. This episode explains why and what products to consider. Jack Rumbaugh is my guest again to discuss both of these weapon systems. Thanks for downloading and listening.

Listener audio comments are now coming in with regularity. That’s great. Keep them coming, seems like everyone has some quality topics to talk about. So this is not a complete episode. It’s a quick bonus podcast at the end of the week for you to listen to an pick some ideas on open carry/vs. concealed, Theis holsters, Glock’s recoil spring exchange program and low light shooting and low light concealed carry consideration. Thanks for downloading and listening, I’ll be back on Monday with Episode 146. Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Show.

I had the pleasure of interviewing a professional pilot who also carries concealed and is a competition shooter. So I interviewed him and got his unique perspective on concealed carry. We discussed the issue of concealed carry on airplanes and whether it would be a good idea or not and also his testing of RBCD ammo. We also discussed his M&P .40c and our situational awareness when carrying in public, especially a restaurant. This episode begins with a few audio comments from listeners and my follow up answers regarding open carry and gun store clerks. Thanks for downloading and listening, Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Show

Strategic storage of handguns and placing them in areas of your home that are not inviting to thieves but easily accessible to you.  Keep in mind your children and gun proofing your kids rather than kid proofing your guns.  But if you’ve ever wondered how to store handguns so that you and only you know where they are then tune in.  In segment one I cover some listener feedback and a brief review of my new M-Tac neutral cant holster by Comp-Tac.  Segment number 2 is all about strategic placement of your handguns.

Highlights:

Segment #1

  • Why you should get a concealed carry license.
  • My new view on Open Carry.
  • Teen shoots would be burglary suspect.
  • Listener feedback.

Segment #2

  • Strategic places to hide and store your handguns.
  • Freedom Raffle.

The SIG P238 seems to be the most popular .380acp autopistol on the market today.   I recently purchased one, so I will give you and open and honest review based on personal experience nothing more, nothing less.  That’s the first half of the show, the second half is about overcoming shooter anxiety and some more listener feedback. I also discuss a little bit about Open Carry.

Highlights:

  • Why I like the SIG P238
  • Why at first I thought it was an expensive mistake.
  • Review of the pistol after 250 rounds in one range session.
  • Why some people get nervous in competition shooting.
  • How to overcome the jitters and nerves.
  • What to do if you’re carjacked at gunpoint.

Open carry is becoming much more popular where it’s legal.  It’s also a controversial subject, even in firearm circles.  In this episode I will talk about the pro’s and con’s of open carry and you will hear an audio clip of a debate between some in the news media, the NRA and the Brady Campaign.  Also you’ll hear how some people have no clue what an assault rifle is.   I also discuss how the element of surprise figures into open carry vs. concealed carry debate.  Is open carry safe?  Is it practical?  Can it be dangerous?  These are all questions I attempt to answer in this podcast.
