Gun Control Debate: Both sides of the issue.  In an effort to be fair,  I’ve included commentary from both sides of this hot issue.  You will hear from Ted Nugent, Sen. Dianne Feinstein and CNN.   Are more laws necessary or should we do a better job of enforcing the laws we have?  Or should we do nothing?  Tune in.

Bob, I appreaciate your comments and value your opinions. As a novice, this website has influnenced my attitude and selection of fire arms greatly.

I am a black woman who is a senior citizen. Okay, *almost* a senior citizen, since my 58th birthday will be in January.

I listened to this “debate” and seethed. Diane Feinstein is, in my opinion, an absolute clueless wannabe ignorant idiotic tyrant. I can’t stand her.

I remember the struggle of the civil rights era in the 60s and it came down to one thing … to make sure that black people – who had a long history in this country – had the same Constitutional rights as everyone else. That meant that ALL rights were acknowledged, and the discriminatory laws of the states that denied those rights to citizens of color were overturned. That told me, even as a youngster, that the Constitution trumped all, and that all facets of the Constitution were one and the same. Either we had all Constitutional rights or we didn’t. State laws could not take precedence over the Constitution. Period.

Doesn’t Feintstein understand that the very reason for the Constitution was to make sure that the people could protect themselves from the government … especially the government made up of her type of minions. Yes, self-defense and hunting are part of it, but it only takes a perusal of the writings of Thomas Jefferson to *get* why the individual citizen’s right to keep and bear arms is of the utmost importance in maintaining a free society. As a little background – the states who banned blacks from having firearms gave free rein to the “nightriders” who killed at will those who were unable to defend themselves from this style of home-grown terrorism. When we all can protect ourselves from anyone who can take our lives, we are all on a level playing field.

Gun control laws are important in that they make sure that – at least from a legislative standpoint – that criminals can’t get guns. Enforce that, and you will see a drop in crime. And that’s all the gun control that’s needed. If criminals know that any house that they target is armed and ready for their foolishness, then they’ll think twice before breaking in. “Home invasions” have reached record levels in my town, but between my very large dog and my NRA training, I feel pretty safe.

As I told another woman recently who sang the praises of the gun control laws, “I have the ability to unload an 9MM Glock into someone who breaks into my house when I’m home alone. What do you have?”

She had no answer. We had already agreed that the police couldn’t get to a house soon enough to prevent a rape and/or murder. Her answer? “I have nothing.”

Diane Feintstein and those of her ilk need to slither into a Communist/Socialist country in which they can feel comfortable and at home. Their ignorance of our basic rights in this country – which *absolutely* is unique – their ignorance is appalling and inexcusable.

No, we’re not like Europe. Why in the hell would we want to be?!?

Vegasrenie, thank you for your very direct comments. I seethed too while I was making the show. The journalists from CNN were tough to listen to also. I never looked at the 2nd ammendment right from the civil rights perspective that you mentioned but you’re right on! Thanks again and keep shooting Glock 9mm.

If anyone else has any comments either
way, on this show, please post them here. All opinions are welcome.

Las Vegas just opened up the largest outdoor shooting range in Nevada. At nearly 3000 acres, it will be a place for locals, tourists who live in Socialist states and don’t have adequate ranges for practice, and for military and law enforcement. The only good thing I can say about Harry Reid is that he supported this … but then, so did every other elected official. We may be Vegas, but this is still the Wild West, and other than being somewhat “Californicated” through the last couple of decades, is still very much a Second Amendment state with an attitude!

Now that the brag is done, I’d like to touch on the civil rights issue. A lot of people are probably still laboring under the illusion that the civil rights struggle was stirred on by communists and radicals. While these groups (and other idiots) jumped in on it, the purpose was very low-key, really. Let us have the same Constitutional rights as every other law-abiding, taxpaying citizen. All of the Bill of Rights should apply to each citizen equally. Very reasonable, and would go a long way in making the then vibrant black communities thrive even more (which got hijacked by the left, but that’s not the purpose of this comment and would cause me to go on yet another rant).

Which brings me back to gun control. Exactly which Amendment is the most important? Which one applies to everyone? Just the first? Just the second? Or do all of them? The answer (I LOVE Ted Nugent!) is pretty clear. Either they all apply or none of them do. And to see the likes of Feinstein, CNN, and any other number of gun-controlling, Constitution-ignoring yammering bobbleheads makes my hackles rise. We (all of us at various times) have fought hard to keep this country free. We’re NOT Europe. God knows we’ve saved their sorry asses a lot throughout the years, so I see no need to want to be like them. I really really wish that those who’d take our rights away would just go to a country where the rights are already gone, or at the very least, where the people’s rights are on their way out. Someplace local like Canada would be a good start.

Great post! I’m glad you mentioned the civil rights issue, I forgot to cover it in this episode. You’ve given me an idea for another podcast actually. I agree, all of the ammendments apply. ALL of them, no exceptions. Otherwise we may as well throw the bill of rights out! Again, excellent comment, thanks.
