How to spot trouble and selecting your concealed carry ammo are the two primary topics in this episode. Ben Branam and I discussed these 2 subjects on the way home from an IDPA match about a week ago. We discussed what to look for in someone who may want to harm you and then we transitioned to the subject of ammunition selection and ballistics. I also answer some listener email. Thanks for downloading and listening. Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Show

Do you shoot moving targets? Do you shoot targets while you’re on the move? These are important skills to practice, because who stands still in a gunfight? Danny Cifuentes of Precision Targets is my guest on this show. We talk about the targets he makes, which are very high quality and we also discuss the importance of using his targets for practice. Please check out the links on the Gun Rights Radio Network forum and the discussion thread about this episode. Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Show.

Two Smith and Wesson pistols are reviewed in this episode. First, Pablo from New Mexico reviews his Smith and Wesson Bodyguard .38 special revolver. He does a nice job with the good and the bad about this revolver. Next, I review my Smith and Wesson Bodyguard .380 semi automatic pistol. I’ve shot several hundred rounds through it and as usual, I give you my honest review of it. I will post an upcoming Youtube video review of it shortly. Many thanks to Pablo for this excellent review. Please keep the gun reviews or audio comments coming! Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Show.

A real gunfight is described by Ben Branam. In this episode we will discuss what a person thinks during a real gunfight, the reflexive responses that take place during a real gunfight and how a person defaults to their level of training. Ben has been in several gunfights and clearly describes one of them in this podcast. Whether you’re a civilian, law enforcement officer or a military person, you should gain some very valuable insight from this podcast. As I’ve mentioned many times, I hope I never have to use a firearm in self defense, but my quest to be an consistent student of concealed carry and self defense, I decided to seek the experience of someone who has been in this situation. I firmly believe you’ll enjoy this show and you will also hear a surprising admission by Ben, regarding action shooting and combat! Thanks for downloading and listening, Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Podcast.

We make sacrifices when we decide to carry a gun. It changes our lifestyle, our clothing, out situational awareness and even the places we go to. So this episode is dedicated to making the choice to carry a gun and what comes with that choice in terms of personal responsibility. I also get into the subject of what gun to carry and when. Links will be posted in the Gun Rights Radio Network forum for this episode. Thanks for downloading and listening, Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Show

This show is about anti gun people and the arguments they use against people who wish to carry a gun for self defense. Have you ever spoken to an anti gun person who just doesn’t get it? In this episode I discuss the 2nd amendment in detail. I discuss what it actually means, how and why it was written and how it still applies today. If you find yourself in a discussion with an anti gun person, you may find some good ideas in this episode to help you have a persuasive and intelligent discussion about the 2nd amendment and the right to carry a firearm for self defense. This is based on the article, “Top Five Baseless and Subversive Arguments Against the Second Amendment” by Michael Chapdelaine. A link directly to the article can be found on the GRRN forum. This will be the last episode of this year, the next one will be Jan 2, 2011. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Show

CCW discussion seems to center around ammo, compact and subcompact guns, holsters, belts and magazines. So this episode has a little of all of these in it. I interviewed Jason Christensen and Un-named Trucker. Jason is the owner of Concealment Solutions and Un-named trucker is from the Roadgunner Podcast. We discussed the SIG 1911 that trucker is carrying, the new Sidewinder holster that Jason is making, the .357SIG round and even some airsoft gun discussion. I also had a chance to speak to Herman Gunter from the Pro Arms team recently and although that conversation is not on this podcast, I talk about some of that discussion regarding .357SIG and .40 caliber guns.  Thanks for downloading and listening and congratulations to the winners of my Shooter’s Club Podcast drawing! Merry Christmas to you and your family, the next show will be on Monday December 26, 2011. Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Show

There’s a new shooting sport evolving rapidly. The Lone Star Shooting Association founded by Gary Burris and Dale Hunnicut. In this episode I interviewed Gary Burris the founder. I like their mission, to raise money for Gun Rights organizations. I also like their scoring system and the way they classify the different types of shooters. Gary was also a speaker at the Gun Rights Policy Conference about international gun laws and policies. You will be interested to hear what he has to say about the UN’s attempt at gun control. Perhaps nothing is more important when using your handgun to defend yourself, as busting off the X. In this episode, I discuss a recent training class I took and how much it helped me learn that not getting shot is probably just as important as being able to shoot well. In the unfortunate situation of having to defend yourself with a gun, do you know how to avoid getting shot too? I also discuss long range pistol shooting and give you a recap of the training class and even a restaurant tip. A couple of fellow students also joined me for an interview at Suarez International’s Advanced Close Range Gunfigthing course. Thanks for listening and remember to check the GRRN forum for links. Also, there’s less than 2 weeks left to get in on my drawing on December 16th, 2011. It requires an investment in my Shooter’s club podcast, but I’ve just increased the amount of giveaways. Roger Phillips of Suarez International is my guest on this episode. We discuss point shooting. This is the first time I’ve ever done a show on point shooting and I thought it would be fitting to start this subject with Episode 150. Roger does an excellent job of explaining the art of point shooting. I’ve heard nothing but awesome things about his point shooting classes and intend to take on in February 2012. If you’re really serious about defending yourself with a handgun, you should learn to point shoot. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to do 150 episodes! I’m looking forward to 150 more! Even if you’re new to competition shooting, you’ll learn some valuable insights from Steve that will pay off for you in the future. I will be back for Episode 150 next week. This episode was pre recorded almost 2 weeks ago. But since I’m taking a brief vacation from this show, I decided to make this episode 148, even though I made a mistake in the intro and called it episode 147.  Jon Hodoway joins me on this episode to discuss how to get ready for a MAG 40 class. Naturally we also discuss a few other topics as well such as IDPA. Next week will be another guest podcast (episode 149) done by a special guest, then I will be back in real time for Episode 150 and a lot of cool stuff planned for the future! Links for this episode will be on the Gun Rights Radio Network forum. Thanks for downloading and listening, Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Show.

Eric Shelton, former host of the Handgun Podcast is my guest host for this episode. I decided to take a little time off and asked Eric to jump in and fill in for me and he did a terrific job, as I knew he would. He discusses topics such as the NRA and other gun rights organizations, an update on his status and what’s in the future for him, and also concealed carry handguns. As always, Eric provides thought provoking and useful information for all firearms enthusiasts and concealed carry advocates. I miss his podcast, but also understand how life takes twists and turns. So I think you’ll enjoy this treat as much as I have. Thank you Eric for helping me out and best of luck in all that you do. Don’t miss this episode. I’m taking 2 weeks off right now to get a few things done at work. Next week, you will hear a cool interview that’s already recorded and I will be back on November 14, 2011 with coverage of Suarez International’s, Advanced Close Range Gunfighting course. Thanks for downloading and listening, Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Show.

I shot the Texas Tactical IDPA match on October 15, 2011 at the Cedar Ridge Range in San Antonio. You’ll hear coverage of the match from the range and an interview with a shooter on my squad who shot his XD9 for the first time. You’ll also hear stage descriptions and the results of a few stages. I finished 8th out of 27 shooters in the SSP division. I’ll take that, since I didn’t shoot a match in almost 6 weeks previous to this match. I was in “gamer” mode and shot my Glock 34, Comp-Tac OWB. belt holster and concealed with an IDPA vest. You’ll experience the match in audio format from the range. Links and discussion can be found on the Gun Rights Radio Network Forum. Thanks for downloading and listening and don’t forget, this will be your last chance to get version 3 of my Shooter’s Club Podcast. Click the buy now button, to help out my show, if you wish.
