Do you carry a gun in your vehicle? In some states it’s legal, yet laws differ from state to state. In some states it’s not legal. But for those of you who can carry a gun in your vehicle, you’ll find this podcast a collection of ideas you may want to try. Keep in mind, this is what works for me. Depending on what kind of vehicle you drive makes a huge difference. But there are definitely some vehicle carry methods I don’t like, so I talk about those as well. Also, this podcast includes an excellent voice mail from a listener in Sanford, Florida. Thanks for downloading and listening, Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Podcast

A recent shooting at a college in California has sparked more controversy about whether students at universities should be able to carry concealed handguns for self defense. I think they should be allowed to. So this episode is based on an excellent article in Guns and Ammo magazine about the subject of concealed carry on campus. I will of course provide a link to that article on the GRRN forum. The first half of this episode is about listener voice mails on open carry, Kahr pistols, IDPA and Ben Branam’s international incident that almost happened. If you are a new shooter or new to concealed carry or even if you’re teaching new shooters, this episode is for you. Ben Branam and I discuss what to practice, using snap caps, dry firing, trigger finger discipline, types of guns for new shooters, 4 round qualification courses, and how to teach new shooters. Also, at the request of a listener, Ben and I address the issue of military personnel having to disarm in the presence of dignitaries. I need to correct some statements I’ve made in previous podcasts about the Trayvon Martin case and selecting a handgun. Also, a couple of listeners called in some voice mails and I want to congratulate the first winner in my SCP contest. So this is a short episode, not really a full podcast episode, but nonetheless, some worthwhile content. Thanks for downloading and listening. Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Podcast

Even though this is the HandgunWorld Podcast, every once in awhile the subject is about rifles or shotguns. So recently Ben Branam and I got together to discuss practicing with your self defense rifle. We also talked about ammunition selection and ballistics. Ben ran his AK in a recent carbine match and I ran my AR and we discussed our experience, respectively. If you’re also a rifle enthusiast, you will enjoy this podcast. “They do not know, what they do not know.” That’s the unfortumate status of the naysayers of point shooting. In this episode, Roger Phillips joins me for part 2 of our point shooting dicsussion. Back in Episode 150 he laid down the ground work for the point shooting discussion. This episode is a continuation. We discuss subjects like low light point shooting, keys to a reactive gunfight, hand eye coordination and a lot more. It will probably make you less concerned about the sights on your handgun and more concerned about improving your ability to shoot it. Links will be posted on the GRRN forum. Sometimes I have a couple of pieces of gun related material that I can’t make a complete podcast episode out of, but I want to put it out there. This is one of those times. So this isn’t a real episode, but rather a bonus podcast. Don’t expect this every week though, OK? It starts with a lunchtime discusion with a couple shooting buddies, then turns into a response to a listener email and a book that was sent to me. Primarily, it’s about how gun owners tend to let emotions rule their decision making when buying or evaluating a gun. Warning! This is NOT politically correct. Ben Branam joins me again for our once a month discussion about concealed carry and gun related stuff. We discussed buying handguns, shotguns (again) , Glock triggers, an experience he had as an armored car guard, 1911’s, and an upcoming carbine match. Also, Jerry from St. Louis submitted an audio clip review of one of my podcasts. Thanks for downloading and listening. Have you ever thought about how you would keep yourself alive, after you get shot? Most people survive when being shot with a handgun. But can you administer first aid to yourself? This episode concentrates on trauma medicine. I interview Dr. John Meade. He’s an ER physician and director of Trauma Medicine for Suarez International. He teaches a course called Trauma Medicine for the concealed carry operator. He’s also written a book called “Beating the Reaper, Vol. 1.” Consider this, because of your excellent training, you’ve prevailed in the gunfight, but your spouse who was with you has been wounded. Do you know what to do? Are you prepared? Dr. Meade gives some valuable insights in this interview. Links can be found on the GRRN forum. Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Podcast

I received 2 excellent pieces of audio from a couple of listeners. One is a pistol packing preacher and the other likes his Glock 32 and he’s a fellow Texan. I also covered some emails I’ve received and discuss some more information about defensive shotguns. Next week, get ready for a cool interview with Dr. John Meade, Tactical Medicine Instructor and author. Until then, I know you’ll enjoy this episode and many thanks to all who contributed this material. Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Show

At the GRPC last September, I listened to Doug Ritter of Kniferights.org talk about knives being the second front of the assault on the 2nd amendment. I was reminded of that when I recorded this interview with 3 custom knife makers. Don’t forget the importance of a good knife as a defensive tool and even though this is the HandGUNworld Podcast, once in awhile I think it’s important to do a show on something other than guns, that you can use to defend yourself with. So I interviewed Wade Colter, Shane Taylor and Erik Fritz. Wade and Shane are Master Bladesmiths, and Erik is a Journeyman Bladesmith. This interview was done at the American Bladesmith Society’s seminar and trade show in San Antonio. I think you’ll enjoy it. Links can be found on the Gun Rights Radio Network Forum.
