Listener audio comments are now coming in with regularity. That’s great. Keep them coming, seems like everyone has some quality topics to talk about. So this is not a complete episode. It’s a quick bonus podcast at the end of the week for you to listen to an pick some ideas on open carry/vs. concealed, Theis holsters, Glock’s recoil spring exchange program and low light shooting and low light concealed carry consideration. Thanks for downloading and listening, I’ll be back on Monday with Episode 146. Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Show.

I’ve received quite a few emails asking me, “what is a 1,000 round trigger job?” First, let me say, I didn’t make that up. I read it somewhere on a forum and can’t remember where, but I’m sure that expression has been used before. So during the first segment, I’ll answer in detail what I mean by that. Trigger jobs are one of the most talked about modifications on a handgun, yet it seems like some people spend too much money on them and don’t get a good enough benefit. Most decent quality guns have triggers that can be mastered with enough practice. That’s my main point, but listen for more details. During segment 2, I respond to my backlog of listener emails. Please keep them coming, I will get to most of them. Links can be found on the GRRN forum. Thanks for downloading and listening, Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Show

This is part 2 of the audio from Mark Vanderburg’s hotel room after the Gun Rights Policy Conference in the anti gun city of Chicago, a few weeks ago. Eric Shelton (former host of The Handgun Podcast) Gail Pepin of the Pro Arms Podcast, Mark Vanderberg, host of the Gun Rights Radio Network, Larry Peikarski and Matt and Shane (2 loyal GRRN listeners) and ME, entertain you with a recap of the Gun Rights Policay conference, in our own words. Tune in for a lot of fun and some thoughtful discussion on the gun rights issue and….what about the Litigation Gorilla? (at the end of the show.) Tell me what you think. Is Alan Gura the litigation gorilla? I think he is, you be the judge. Next week, I guarantee I will cover lots of listener emails and questions. Thanks for downloading and listening, Bob Mayne, HandunWorld Show.

Audio from the Gun Rights Policy Conference held in Chicago Sept. 24th and 25th. I interviewed a few listeners and bloggers that share some valuable insights. You’ll also hear speeches from the KnifeRights.org group including Doug Ritter and Tom Gresham. I also include some audio from a group podcast that was held with quite a few GRRN podcasters including Eric Shelton from Handgun Podcast, Gail Pepin from The Pro Arms Podcast, Larry Piekarski from the Gun Rights News Podcast, Mark Vanderberg head of the Gun Rights Radio Network and Bar Stool Discussion, and Me. We also had a couple of faithful listeners that contributed to the group discussion. WARNING! The group podcast was recorded while we were having “fun” and letting it loose after the conference activities on Saturday! Since this is the 2nd podcast of this week, I will NOT be posting a show next week. So the next show will be Monday, Oct. 10th, 2011. I’m going to take a little time off. Please keep the comments coming in emails and audio format. I will get caught up on the next show. Please join the GRRN forum and the 2nd Amendment Foundation! Links can be found on the GRRN forum. The audio quality of this interview didn’t turn out as good as I hoped it would. I’m not sure what I did, but my microphone settings were all messed up, so I’ve done the best I could to make this interview with Jon Payne from Suarez International, sound good enough for you to get something out of it. My apologies in advance. This episode begins with an audio comment from a listener regarding my last episode, then a little commentary from me and then the interview regarding Advanced Close Range Gunfighing. I just finished the Gun Rights Policy Conference in Chicago and it was great! Later this week, I will post another episode with some good quality audio from the GRPC conference. I interviewed some listeners and some other podcasters. So download that on Friday of this week. For now, enjoy this show as much as you can. Thanks for listening, Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Show

I had the pleasure of interviewing a professional pilot who also carries concealed and is a competition shooter. So I interviewed him and got his unique perspective on concealed carry. We discussed the issue of concealed carry on airplanes and whether it would be a good idea or not and also his testing of RBCD ammo. We also discussed his M&P .40c and our situational awareness when carrying in public, especially a restaurant. This episode begins with a few audio comments from listeners and my follow up answers regarding open carry and gun store clerks. Thanks for downloading and listening, Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Show

Recently I shot a tactical carbine match with Texas Tactical in San Antonio. It was my first time shooting a carbine match with my AR-15. So I took my recorder along and recorded some stage descriptions, recaps and you’ll hear some of the experience during the match. You’ll hear what type of AR that I used and what modifications I’ve done to it and why I think it’s important to participate in matches like this with your long guns. Even a Ruger 10-22! Also, at the end you’ll hear an audio clip from a listener about 1911’s and the original torture test and what was said in my 1911 podcast a couple weeks ago. The 1911 pistol is arguably the most popular gun in the world, just by the number of people who own one. Recently several listeners have asked me to talk more about 1911’s. Since I don’t own any 1911’s right now, I decided to interview someone who owns a lot of them and has shot thousands and thousands of rounds through 1911’s. Jon Hodoway shares is valuable insights and thoughts about owning, shooting, carrying and competing with 1911 pistols. We talked about the grip safety issue, the thumb safety and capacity features and even some history as to how and why Jon Browning designed the 1911 pistol. Thanks for listening and don’t forget about your last chance to help the GRRN, The Powerfactor Show and my show with an investment into my Shooter’s Club Podcast. After August 31, 2011, I can no longer enter your name into the drawing. For more details, see the “Shooter’s Club Podcast” link at the top of this page. Every shooting competition has a set of rules and by laws that they adhere to. However, there are inconsistencies in the way they are written and enforced. In this episode, Steve and Rick from the Powerfactor Show interview with me and we discuss how we would change the rules of IDPA and USPSA if we were in charge. So naturally this is heavily competition related. For those of you who shoot these 2 sports, I think you’ll find yourself relating quite a bit to this subject. Thanks for downloading and listening. Bonus Podcast – not a regular episode. I recently had the opportunity to interview 2 firearms trainers on the subject of AR-15/M-4 rifle gunfighting. Specifically a course taught by Suarez International on Sept 10th and 11th, 2011 in Orange, TX. Jon Payne and Don Robison are the 2 instructors and they join me for this quick but informative interview covering aspects of defending yourself with an AR-15/M-4 Rifle. Enjoy and thanks for listening. Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Show

Concealed carry in an unconventional manner is the subject of this episode. I received an audio clip from a listener named Pablo in New Mexico about a unique method of carrying his Glock 26. It’s pretty interesting, you’ll hear that first. Then, Jason Christensen of Concealment Solutions joins me for a discussion about his holsters and also some unique methods of concealed carry. As usual, I also discuss some listener emails and feedback. So thanks for downloading and listening and links can be found on the GRRN forum. Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Show
