If you are a new shooter or new to concealed carry or even if you’re teaching new shooters, this episode is for you. Ben Branam and I discuss what to practice, using snap caps, dry firing, trigger finger discipline, types of guns for new shooters, 4 round qualification courses, and how to teach new shooters. Also, at the request of a listener, Ben and I address the issue of military personnel having to disarm in the presence of dignitaries. Thanks for downloading and listening, Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Podcast

    Hey Bob & Ben,

I agree the one round training is a must starting out. About a week ago me and my wife were at our “shooting range” property and I had my AK there to fine tune a new front sight post. Usually my wife just likes to watch, but she wanted to shoot the AK just because she had not shot it before. I took the 30 rd mag out and opened the bolt and put one round in by hand because I didn’t know how she would handle the recoil. I showed her how to take the safety off and stood behind her as she prepared to fire. She flinched as she pulled the trigger and shot the dirt about 20 feet in front of us. That was totally unexpected because she is good with a 12 gauge when shooting clay targets. Just goes to show you can never be too careful.

    Love the podcast,

    Patrick

You never know what a new shooter’s going to do, the one round starter method is a must! Thanks for sharing this.
