    Hi Bob –
I was so pleasantly surprised to hear the new podcast today. Keep fighting the cancer, and I will continue praying for you.
I have a question for you or another listener, please.
My wife carries a Sig p238 and likes it a lot. I want to buy her a range gun. Following your advice, I want her to “marry the platform,” so I want her range gun to be a 1911, and in 9mm. I think the EMP is too similar size-wise to her p238, so I think a compact like a lightweight commander-style is in order.
I wish Springfield made the compact Range Officer in 9mm, because it would be perfect, but I don’t believe they do (at least yet).
So my question is this: what would you recommend for her? I don’t want to spend a zillion dollars, but I also don’t want to buy junk.
    Thanks very much.

Have you compared the EMP? It’s bigger than you might think. It could work as a range gun. Not the best but the nice thing is that it’s small enough to carry and if she does carry it that’s a plus. It’s probably big enough if she wants to compete as long as she’s not out to win the whole match.

Colt also makes a lightweight commander in 9mm. So does STI. STI’s are more expensive but I hear they are worth it.

Those are my suggestions for now. Thanks for listening.
