Mouseguns and pocket pistols are excellent back up guns.  In this episode I discuss how they are good back up guns but should not be used as your primary carry gun.  I define what is a mousegun, what calibers are available, what ammo to use in them and how to carry mouseguns.  I own  Kahr 380.  I’ll discuss that too.  I also answer a listener’s question about RBCD ammo.

Highlights:

  • Pro’s and Con’s of RBCD ammo.
  • The Box of Truth review of RBCD ammo.
  • The compromise of carrying a handgun.
  • What is a mousegun?
  • Stopping power of mouseguns.
  • A mousegun is better than no gun.
  • Sig P238
  • Why a mousegun should not be your primary carry gun.
  • Corbon DPX ammo review.

Thanks for listening to the Handgun World Show.

    Bob:

Thank you for these podcasts. Iam 53 and just last year purchased my first handgun. I have been a hunter for over 30 years but only recently decided I needed a handgun. This has been an overwhelming process with the amount of options out there – type of handgun, style / size, caliber, sights, on and on. Then if you want to carry, the type of holster to buy and from whom. Where to get training and what ranges allow what type of shooting. I am left handed and in some ways this has made my selections easier – not as much to choose from; but in other ways it really complicates things. I wish I had started listening to your podcasts before I started this process; however, I think most of my choices would have been the same. I started listening to your podcasts about a month ago and am just now getting current. Based on your previous podcasts, I was surprised you downplayed your .380 as much as you did. I am a business man also and wear “business casual” on a daily basis. Would you comment on how to best conceal carry when you must wear dress slacks and a dress shirt everyday? Also, in that environment, would a pocket pistol be better than an IWB setup? How do you conceal the pistol handle in an IWB holster if you aren’t wearing a sweater, vest or coat? Please provide some VERY basic information. Thanks again.

Thanks for your comment and for listening. I carry my .380 (Kahr P380) very often in dress slacks in the right front pocket. I downplayed it because it still to me represents a back up gun. Whenever possible, I carry one of my 9mm’s as my primary weapon. I will say there are times when doing business, that I just can’t let anyone know I’m carrying and therefore, I slip the .380 in my pocket and consider it better than nothing at all. I do carry my G26 IWB when I can untuck my shirt, even in business. With my wilderness tactical belt and a Mr. Softy High Noon holster, it hides just fine. My build allows me to get away with that. YMMV, but thanks again for the comment and for listening.
