At the suggestion of a listener, I agreed it was very appropriate for Glen Tate, author of the best selling book series “299 Days” to be my guest on this 299th episode. Enjoy.

Small compact guns that are extremely covert and effective. That’s the main topic of this episode. Jon Payne joins me to discuss guns such as the SIG P290, Kahr PM9, Shield 9mm, Glock 26, M&P Compacts and more. We also discuss how to accessorize them to make them even more effective, especially long range.

This episode is about red dot optics on pistols and a review of the SIG 556 rifle. There’s a huge movement to putting red dot optics onepistolary just like those on rifles. This episode explains why and what products to consider. Jack Rumbaugh is my guest again to discuss both of these weapon systems. Thanks for downloading and listening.

I need to correct some statements I’ve made in previous podcasts about the Trayvon Martin case and selecting a handgun. Also, a couple of listeners called in some voice mails and I want to congratulate the first winner in my SCP contest. So this is a short episode, not really a full podcast episode, but nonetheless, some worthwhile content. Thanks for downloading and listening. Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Podcast

Ben Branam joins me again for our once a month discussion about concealed carry and gun related stuff. We discussed buying handguns, shotguns (again) , Glock triggers, an experience he had as an armored car guard, 1911’s, and an upcoming carbine match. Also, Jerry from St. Louis submitted an audio clip review of one of my podcasts. Thanks for downloading and listening. I received 2 excellent pieces of audio from a couple of listeners. One is a pistol packing preacher and the other likes his Glock 32 and he’s a fellow Texan. I also covered some emails I’ve received and discuss some more information about defensive shotguns. Next week, get ready for a cool interview with Dr. John Meade, Tactical Medicine Instructor and author. Until then, I know you’ll enjoy this episode and many thanks to all who contributed this material. Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Show

This week is a mixed bag again, because I didn’t really have only one single topic, so I combined a few topics into one show. You’ll hear a rebuttal from un-named trucker regarding my review of the Glock 26 a few weeks ago. Then Al Vennemeyer from Stealth Defense Holsters joins me again for a follow up from a few weeks ago. I also discuss the oppressive Maryland gun laws and why they really don’t allow concealed carry. Generation 4 Glocks are also a topic of this show. Also many thanks to Jason at Concealment Solutions for adding an extra giveaway to my fundraiser. Links can be found on the GRRN forum. You never know when and where someone who want’s to harm you, will strike. Often times we are in a compromised position or perhaps your attacker is even so close, that they are at arm’s length or even closer! Violent encounters don’t happen like a competition match. There’s no timer, no scoring system and no re-shoot. Not to make fun of competition at all, because as you know, I totally enjoy it and support the shooting sports. But the main topic of this show is what to think about when shooting at arm’s length distance. So I reviewed and excellent article by Jon Payne of Suarez International on this subject. Some of this is from my personal experience during the training I recently took under him. Also, Jon Hodoway has more to say on how to pick a firearms trainer and ammunition ballistics. You’ll also learn about the Wall Drill. A dry fire practice technique taught by an Army Reserve shooting instructor. I also cover some listener emails on subjects like the Glock 26 as a back up gun and appendix carry. Finally, you’ll hear my review of the Smith and Wesson model 39-2. I recently had a chance to shoot one for the first time. Links for all of these can be found on the Gun Rights Radio Network forum. Thanks for listening, Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Show.

A lot of people think they need to make serious modifications to their gun to be able to shoot it well. A couple weeks ago, a shooting buddy of mine decided to pour about $600 worth of upgrades into his new Glock 21SF, then did a range test to see if he could shoot it better. Listen to this episode to find out the results. Are modifications really worth it? Is there a point of diminishing returns? Would you be better off to spend that same money on ammo and training? Do you need a trigger job? What is the 1,000 round trigger job? These are questions I attempt to answer in my own way on this show. You’ll also hear a brief post match discussion between me and Steve and Rick from the Powerfactor Show. For those of you who have emailed me questions and comments, I’ve also handled some of the backlog of emails I’ve received. Thanks for sending them in.
