Since ammunition is so hard to find and so expensive, I decided to record some thoughts about ammo buying. Did you know about the proposed “ammunition background check Act of 2013?” I also include some information about what handguns to consider purchasing. Other topics include why we probably have the ammo crisis and how anti gun politicians are going after ammo too. I also cover some listener voice mails including a Glock 27 review.

The ammo crisis is a real one. There’s no telling when ammo prices and supplies will get back to normal, if ever. I think it’s safe to say the firearms climate has changed. Even if sweeping gun control does not pass, the simple threat of it seems to send the markets into frenzy. This week, Jon Hodoway joins me to discuss unique ways to get ammo and whether it makes sense to standardize your calibers or not. He also has some advice for new gun purchasers.

What to look for when buying your first handgun. This episode is about what not to look for actually. It’s just my opinion of course, but it’s based on a great deal of experience of my own and others. Also, I cover voice mails about aftermath of a self defense shooting, post election gun and ammo purchases, a Beretta Cheetah and more. This episode also features an audio clip by Massad Ayoob and Tom Gresham recorded for Guns And ammo called Action Plan.

This midweek MSP (Modern Self Protection) podcast hosted by Ben Branam is a review of the Kel Tec P-32 pocket pistol. Ben does a nice job of discussing the pro’s and con’s of this pocket mousegun. I used to have a P3AT and it’s almost identical to the P-32. So if you’re considering a pocket pistol from Kel Tec you might gain a lot from this review. I also start the episode with some listener voice mails. Thanks for downloading and listening. Bob and Ben.

Active shooter situations like the recent Aurora Colorado movie theater shooting and the recent shooting at the Sikh Temple in Wisconsin seem to really make people stop and think about their safety and how they plan to keep themselves safe. They almost always lead to more gun sales and more ammo sales. The main topic of this episode is a discussion of how the shooting in Colorado has changed my outlook on concealed carry, training and self defense. How has it changed you? This episode also begins with some listener voice mails. Thanks for downloading and listening. Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Podcast

A lot of myths about firearms and ammunition are perpetuated on the internet or in gun stores and gun shows. Recently I was at a gun shop and overheard a gun sales clerk give some very bad information to a new gun buyer. So that motivated me to make a list of incorrect firearms information commonly said by internet commandos, gun store clerks or the general public. The problem is that once these myths are told often enough and spread far enough, people start to believe them. So this episode is dedicated to busting those myths. If you know someone new to handguns please ask them to listen to this episode. This episode is released earlier than usual because I’ve got a couple of really good interviews coming up that I want you to hear soon. Subcompact guns are extremely popular for concealed carry. So this episode is about the advantages and disadvantages of small semi automatics, revolvers and other guns called subcompact guns. We analyzed Kahr PM9, Glock 26 and J frame revolvers and small .380 autos. Jon Payne also joins me for an interview about subcompact handguns. Thanks for downloading and listening. I need to correct some statements I’ve made in previous podcasts about the Trayvon Martin case and selecting a handgun. Also, a couple of listeners called in some voice mails and I want to congratulate the first winner in my SCP contest. So this is a short episode, not really a full podcast episode, but nonetheless, some worthwhile content. Thanks for downloading and listening. Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Podcast

Several listeners called in some interesting voice mails. So the first part of this episode is about those voice mails on subjects such as open carry, doctors asking firearms related questions, gun registration and gun purchasing specifics. Sometimes I have a couple of pieces of gun related material that I can’t make a complete podcast episode out of, but I want to put it out there. This is one of those times. So this isn’t a real episode, but rather a bonus podcast. Don’t expect this every week though, OK? It starts with a lunchtime discusion with a couple shooting buddies, then turns into a response to a listener email and a book that was sent to me. Primarily, it’s about how gun owners tend to let emotions rule their decision making when buying or evaluating a gun. Warning! This is NOT politically correct. Ben Branam joins me again for our once a month discussion about concealed carry and gun related stuff. We discussed buying handguns, shotguns (again) , Glock triggers, an experience he had as an armored car guard, 1911’s, and an upcoming carbine match. I’ve received quite a few emails asking me, “what is a 1,000 round trigger job?” First, let me say, I didn’t make that up. I read it somewhere on a forum and can’t remember where, but I’m sure that expression has been used before. So during the first segment, I’ll answer in detail what I mean by that. Trigger jobs are one of the most talked about modifications on a handgun, yet it seems like some people spend too much money on them and don’t get a good enough benefit. Most decent quality guns have triggers that can be mastered with enough practice. That’s my main point, but listen for more details. During segment 2, I respond to my backlog of listener emails. Please keep them coming, I will get to most of them. Links can be found on the GRRN forum. Thanks for downloading and listening, Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Show

Picking a handgun is sometimes a tough choice. I’m often asked, “what handgun do you think I should buy?” It’s nearly impossible for me to answer that, because everyone has different hand sizes, finger lengths, needs, wants and body shapes. Well, a listener named Paul from Maryland sent me an audio explanation of a method of weighing the must haves and wants and it’s a pretty cool and well thought out method of selecting a handgun. So you’ll hear that and also a little bit of my explanation of why I carry what I do. The main point of this podcast is that you don’t necessarily want to listen to friends or relatives opinion of what gun is best for you. I would also suggest staying away from being convinced by all of the fancy marketing that gun manufacturers tend to put out. Hopefully in this show you’ll be able to use this method to make an informed decision. And as always, I welcome your feedback either in audio form or written form. Thanks for listening and shoot safe, Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Show.

So much good feedback and questions have been sent to me in the past few weeks. I really appreciate it, so in this episode I get caught up on quite a bit of my backlog of emails. This show includes information about High Noon Holsters, the Kel Tec PLR-16, Texas Gun Talk forums, stopping power, Center Axis Relock, testing handguns and more. Most of this show is contributed by people on the Gun Rights Radio Network Forum and emails sent to me recently. I consider this a show produced by the listeners. I’m just the host and the guy that puts it together. Thanks for listening and safe shooting! Bob Mayne – HandgunWorld Show
