    Why?

Because I’m a sentient leader and protector of both myself, my family, my property and those who are close friends, relatives and neighbors.

Furthermore, I’m a clear-headed realist that I will never be able to convince with conversation the drug addled, assaultive, armed criminal intent on harm and mayhem against my above stated protection priorities with mere speech.

Lastly, because as a former Marine infantry officer:

    1) I know much better than some gang banger how to use my weapons with deadly accuracy (it’s second nature to Marine veterans)…

    …and…

    2) I and many Marines like me are, by training, conditioned to assault rather than shrink from danger.

So, we need readily available weapons with which we are well-practiced to successfully perform the above mentioned protective actions.
