This week is about women and concealed carry, and some of the things women need to consider when carrying a gun. I interviewed Tracy Thronburg, firearms instructor, competitive shooter and concealed carrier.
I’ve often talked about your concealed carry “system.” That being the gun, holster, belt and ammo. So this week, I interviewed Jason Christensen, owner of Concealment Solutions. We discussed the features of a good holster and belt and why it’s important for concealed carry.
High Noon Holsters sent me their excellent IWB holster called the “Double Jeopardy.” In this episode, I do a complete review after using it for 2 weeks. I also answer voice mails regarding bulk ammo and flying with handgun parts.
What to look for when buying your first handgun. This episode is about what not to look for actually. It’s just my opinion of course, but it’s based on a great deal of experience of my own and others. Also, I cover voice mails about aftermath of a self defense shooting, post election gun and ammo purchases, a Beretta Cheetah and more. This episode also features an audio clip by Massad Ayoob and Tom Gresham recorded for Guns And ammo called Action Plan.
Some concealed carriers have some bad habits. This episode is based partly on personal experience and partly on an article by Matt Schlueter.
Bad habits include printing, exposing, touching, looking, telegraphing, active telegraphing, passive telegraphing, bumping, forgetting, dropping, and more. I also discuss the problems associated with carrying the wrong gun.
I’ve always believed in a concealed carry “system.” All of the parts work together. What I mean is your gun, holster and belt work together to complete your concealed carry system. Well, add another item to the list. The CCW COMFORT SLING. Tony Ferrante, the owner of the company joins me to discuss how his product helps to complete the system.
I review several holsters such as White Dog Holsters’ kydex OWB, Concealment Solutions’ new horsehide pocket holster, Remora holsters, the new AIWB holster by Concealment Solutions and my Ruger 1911! I also answer some voice mails regarding malfunctioning guns, pistol magazine springs, Canadian gun laws, selecting gun stores and more.
Ben Branam reviews my S&W M&P Shield 9mm pistol. After our recent training class, we got together and I let him shoot my little Shield. So Ben took it home and did a review on it. He does a very good job of pointing out the positives and negatives. There’s a lot of positive feedback on this gun, but few people point out the negatives. There are some negatives, so this is a very fair review. I did a video review on this gun and also shot it at the range. Visit my Youtube channel (HandgunWorldShow) and check it out. Thanks for downloading and listening.
Ben Branam and I empty our pockets and podcast about what’s in them! Both of us have decided to carry more tactically. So this episode is about why we carry what we carry and some product reviews too. If you like to talk about gear, guns, knives, ammo, flashlights, pens and spare magazines this is the episode for you. Thanks for downloading and listening, Bob Mayne, Handgunworld Podcast
What gear do you own and carry? What is your concealed carry system? In this episode I discuss guns, holsters, belts, ammo and what makes up your concealed carry system. Next week, Ben and I will share some thoughts on the Colorado movie theater shooting. Thanks for downloading and listening.
This episode does not have one single topic. A couple of listeners called in some voice mails about 1911’s and a close call with a potential bad guy. Then Ben Branam and I discussed guns we want to purchase, tactical pens, holsters and training. So between my answers to the voice mails and the interview with Ben, it turned into a mixed bag of topics. Links can be found on the GRRN forum. Thanks for listening. Bob Mayne, Handgunworld Podcast.
Do you carry a gun in your vehicle? In some states it’s legal, yet laws differ from state to state. In some states it’s not legal. But for those of you who can carry a gun in your vehicle, you’ll find this podcast a collection of ideas you may want to try. Keep in mind, this is what works for me. Depending on what kind of vehicle you drive makes a huge difference. But there are definitely some vehicle carry methods I don’t like, so I talk about those as well. Also, this podcast includes an excellent voice mail from a listener in Sanford, Florida. Thanks for downloading and listening, Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Podcast
