David Scaife, owner of Sturdy Belt manufacturing is my guest on this episode. I’ve often talked about your concealed carry “system.” And your belt is part of that system. Some of the finest belts are made by Sturdy Belt and I own one. This episode also begins with voice mails from listeners regarding the 2nd amendment, drawing your weapon, buying your spouse a gun, Ben Branam’s response to a caller last week regarding responsible gun use and a call from Australia! If you want to leave a voice mail comment, please call 210-646-1727.

If you are a new shooter or new to concealed carry or even if you’re teaching new shooters, this episode is for you. Ben Branam and I discuss what to practice, using snap caps, dry firing, trigger finger discipline, types of guns for new shooters, 4 round qualification courses, and how to teach new shooters. Also, at the request of a listener, Ben and I address the issue of military personnel having to disarm in the presence of dignitaries. I’ve received quite a few emails asking me, “what is a 1,000 round trigger job?” First, let me say, I didn’t make that up. I read it somewhere on a forum and can’t remember where, but I’m sure that expression has been used before. So during the first segment, I’ll answer in detail what I mean by that. Trigger jobs are one of the most talked about modifications on a handgun, yet it seems like some people spend too much money on them and don’t get a good enough benefit. Most decent quality guns have triggers that can be mastered with enough practice. That’s my main point, but listen for more details. During segment 2, I respond to my backlog of listener emails. Please keep them coming, I will get to most of them. Links can be found on the GRRN forum. Thanks for downloading and listening, Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Show

Listener feedback and comments are the topics this week. I’ve received a lot of emails and first let me say thank you! In this show I talk about a mixed bag of gun talk again, why I have 3 CCW licenses, Springfield XDM’s, Revolvers and some corrections to my revolver episode, open carry in Wisconsin, ammo recoil, self training with a handgun, gun free zones, IDPA and more. I’ll even discuss a listener’s email as to why he carries, it’s a good story, you’ll want to hear it. They are all in response to you, the loyal listener. Please remember to join me at the Gun Rights Radio Network Forum. I also cover some constructive criticism and compliments. I appreciate the feedback because it helps me improve the show. You can also find me on YouTube and on Facebook and Twitter.

  • Makarov’s
  • SKS
  • Mosin Nagant
  • 7.62 X 54R
  • Surplus Handguns
  • Aim Surplus
  • Southern Ohio Gun
  • Hickock45 You Tube Review of the Mosin Nagant.

Interview with a Liberal Democrat concealed carry instructor on CCW and shooting.  Not all firearms enthusiasts are conservative politically.  In this episode I interview one of my listeners by the name of Steve, in St. Paul Minnesota.  We discuss concealed carry, training, shooting and just a small amount of politics.

Highlights:

  • Some differences between Minnesota law and other states.
  • Use of deadly force.
  • Minnesota is a shall issue state.
  • Training beyond CCW class.
  • Some scary stuff seen in concealed carry class.
  • Legal posting of no carry zones and why we both think it’s bogus and non productive.
  • How to convince someone who doesn’t like guns to go shooting.
  • Open Carry.

Highlights:

  • Large calibers
  • Heavy guns vs light guns
  • Barrel length
  • Guns as an investment
  • Simplicity
  • Recoil considerations
  • Revolvers
