Smith and Wesson M&P Pistols are quite popular among law enforcement and civilian CCW’ers. The Army is also considering M&P pistols to be issued to troops. Ben Branam recently took an M&P Armorers course taught by Smith and Wesson. I interviewed him on this subject and it’s quite interesting.

The ammo crisis is a real one. There’s no telling when ammo prices and supplies will get back to normal, if ever. I think it’s safe to say the firearms climate has changed. Even if sweeping gun control does not pass, the simple threat of it seems to send the markets into frenzy. This week, Jon Hodoway joins me to discuss unique ways to get ammo and whether it makes sense to standardize your calibers or not. He also has some advice for new gun purchasers.

John Neuser works in an ER at a level 1 trauma center and he’s also a certified wilderness first responder. Quite frequently he sees people come into his ER with gunshot wounds. So I asked him to interview with me and discuss the effect that different bullets, calibers and bullet weights can have in a self defense situation. We also briefly discussed our favorite types of ammo and over penetration. You’ll enjoy this practical and useful interview. This episode also begins with a voice mail from a listener regarding fighting back against gun control and a couple of emails from listeners. One listener shared an excellent personal defense story!

Ben Branam reviews my S&W M&P Shield 9mm pistol. After our recent training class, we got together and I let him shoot my little Shield. So Ben took it home and did a review on it. He does a very good job of pointing out the positives and negatives. There’s a lot of positive feedback on this gun, but few people point out the negatives. A little over a week ago I competed at the Double Tap Championship (USPSA) in Wichita Falls, TX. Although I didn’t do as well as I wanted, I’m glad I took on the challenge. Competition does help you improve your ability to shoot fast and accurately. Why would that be a bad thing? So in this episode, I interviewed people at the range who were shooting with me and also recorded some of the stage descriptions given by the RO’s of the match. Also, Steve Zopfi and Rick Brenneman from the PowerFactor Show joined me for a discussion after day one as to what we liked, disliked and some success and failure stories.
