This episode is and interview with Rick Breneman of the Power Factor Show. One of his specialties is collecting firearms. I have not done a show on collecting firearms because I don’t know much about it, so I took this advantage of an expert’s opinion and want to share it with you. We talk about how to acquire collectible firearms, what type Rick collects and what he shoots! The Power Factor Show is also part of the Gun Rights Radio Network and our first video podcast. Enjoy this interview on collecting firearms. Warning, this show could cause a firearms collection addiction.

More discussion on rental guns. After going to the range with James Kimmerle, I did an interview with him. We discussed our thoughts about a Glock .357Sig, FN 9mm and Beretta PX4 sub compact 9mm. At the beginning of the show I cover some information on a recent back up gun match I shot with my P380. We also discussed James’ new High Noon Public Secret left handed holster for his PX4. We also spent some time discussing the Tucson shooting and why the anti gunners and media have it all wrong. I also make an announcement about a new fund raising effort for the 2nd Amendment foundation. Jon Hodoway is my guest on this show. He agreed to be interviewed due to some challenges I had with some of his comments and quotes of me a few weeks ago. We had a very good civil discussion on concealed carry, caliber, choice of gun, training, stopping power and why he doesn’t like the .380acp! So download and listen as soon as you can. I found this to be very informative and while we don’t see eye to eye on everything, that’s a good thing. Jon does a good job of backing up his arguments and he makes some very convincing points. I like the fact that he used evidence that he’s found and not just pie in the sky theories. We also discussed some expensive 1911’s and a couple of revolvers.

Thanks for listening,

Before and after analysis of the Real World Gun Match that’s more defensive oriented than most competition matches in my opinion. I realize it’s still a game, but I shot my carry gun and used my carry gear/holster, etc. This is a relatively short show but I think you’ll enjoy the analysis and shooting results. I also got a chance to shoot a Wilson Combat CQB 1911, so tune in for a quick review on that gun. This Friday I’ll post my recent interview with Jon Hodoway. Remember to join the GRRN forum if you’re not already and check out my Facebook Page, YouTube Videos and Shooters Legion page.

Also, if you haven’t ordered my CD or digital download yet, let me encourage you to do so. You’ll support my show but more importantly, Steve Zopfi and I share some very nice shooting skills advice from Brian Enos’ book. Most of this show is listener feedback but I also give a summary of The Real World Gun match I’ll be shooting this Thanksgiving weekend.  So stay tuned next week for the results of what happened. However, I do explain the differences between Real World Gun and IDPA. I also answer listener’s questions about holsters, throwing yogurt at vehicles, arm extension, carrying a Kahr, carrying a Taurus, tuckable holsters, practice techniques and more. Please remember to join me at the Gun Rights Radio Network Forum, YouTube, Facebook and Shooters Legion. Be thankful you live in an area where you can own and carry a gun to defend yourself (if you do) this Thanksgiving Holiday and have a great weekend!

Eric Shelton from the Handgun Podcast joins me this week to discuss our podcasts, how they came about, why we do this and how we are similar, yet different in a few ways. We discuss ideas about concealed carry guns, holster, sights, lights on guns, revolvers, sights, trigger pulls and more. We agree on some things and differ on others but I have to let you know that Eric’s show has certainly been an inspiration to me and one of the influences that made me start this podcast. Eric and I also discuss why we like to carry a Glock 19 and how I started shooting 1911’s in IDPA. For those of you that don’t know, Eric’s show is also part of the Gun Rights Radio Network. Last Friday I was on his podcast, so you may want to listen to that first, because this is sort of a “Part 2” of that episode. Both interviews were recorded at the same time.

Revolvers are a good choice for a self defense handgun. They are not my first choice, but at the request of a listener, I did this show on my experience shooting 2 particular revolvers. James Kimmerle and I went to a range, rented 2 .357 magnum revolvers and we give you our straight talk review on them.

Highlights:

  • Simplicity of the revolver, good or bad?
  • Firing a revolver from a pocket.
  • Capacity of a self defense revolver.
  • Reliability pros and cons.
  • Revolver myth busting.
  • Is 5-6 round capacity enough?
  • Every time you pull the trigger?
  • Cost vs. features.

What happens when someone shoots a Glock for the first time and when someone shoots a Beretta for the first time? Tune in to find out. James and I went to a Fort Worth shooting range. There’s a lot of talk about the grip angle of a Glock and the DA/SA trigger of a Beretta being difficult to shoot. We tried our best to do some myth busting. It’s not a scientific test, but at least an attempt to show what first time shooters of each gun can experience. James shot my Glock 19 and I shot his Beretta PX4 subcompact.
