Alan Houck, assistant manager and instructor at A Place To Shoot range is my guest on this episode. He’s also a Texas CHL instructor. I asked him to discuss the issues of printing, brandishing and properly concealing a handgun. We also discussed the issue of campus carry some more. He’s also a college student with a good perspective on that issue. The episode starts with some listener voice mails on subjects such as training, the Taurus TCP .380 pistol and even legalizing pot! Thanks for downloading and listening.

I’ve always believed in a concealed carry “system.” All of the parts work together. What I mean is your gun, holster and belt work together to complete your concealed carry system. Well, add another item to the list. The CCW COMFORT SLING. Tony Ferrante, the owner of the company joins me to discuss how his product helps to complete the system.

What will you do if you have to fight to your handgun? It seems like a lot of people train to fight with their handgun, but what if your attackers are trying to prevent you from accessing your handgun? Do you know how to handle that? In this episode I discuss that subject with a review of some training. Also, Alan from Utah, a listener sent me a pretty good voice mail about 2nd Amendment issues and a Wilderness Tactical SafePacker. The audio quality of this interview didn’t turn out as good as I hoped it would. I’m not sure what I did, but my microphone settings were all messed up, so I’ve done the best I could to make this interview with Jon Payne from Suarez International, sound good enough for you to get something out of it. My apologies in advance. This episode begins with an audio comment from a listener regarding my last episode, then a little commentary from me and then the interview regarding Advanced Close Range Gunfighing. I just finished the Gun Rights Policy Conference in Chicago and it was great! Later this week, I will post another episode with some good quality audio from the GRPC conference. I interviewed some listeners and some other podcasters. So download that on Friday of this week. For now, enjoy this show as much as you can. Thanks for listening, Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Show

However, I do explain the differences between Real World Gun and IDPA. I also answer listener’s questions about holsters, throwing yogurt at vehicles, arm extension, carrying a Kahr, carrying a Taurus, tuckable holsters, practice techniques and more. Please remember to join me at the Gun Rights Radio Network Forum, YouTube, Facebook and Shooters Legion. Be thankful you live in an area where you can own and carry a gun to defend yourself (if you do) this Thanksgiving Holiday and have a great weekend!

Can you carry a big gun? Why not? If so, why do you carry a large gun? Questions often asked, so I give you my answers. First I start with a review of the .357SIG, after I went to the range and shot a Glock 33. The Pro Arms Podcast recent review of the .357SIG got me interested in what all the fuss was about. I must say, I was quite impressed. Then I talk about an IDPA experience and a little bit of news and listener feedback. The main topic is carrying a big gun and why you should do it.

Highlights:

  • .357SIG Glock 33 review.
  • Using caliber conversion barrels in .40 cal and .357sig guns.
  • Using the wrong recoil spring in Glock 19.
  • What happens when you clean 2 guns at the same time.
  • IDPA match recap.
  • Big Slims Firearms store controversy.
  • How the right belt and holster help you comfortably carry a big gun.
  • Compromises in concealed carry and why I think you shouldn’t make too many of them.
  • The case for carrying a high capacity weapon.
