Active shooter situations like the recent Aurora Colorado movie theater shooting and the recent shooting at the Sikh Temple in Wisconsin seem to really make people stop and think about their safety and how they plan to keep themselves safe. They almost always lead to more gun sales and more ammo sales. The main topic of this episode is a discussion of how the shooting in Colorado has changed my outlook on concealed carry, training and self defense. How has it changed you? This episode also begins with some listener voice mails. Thanks for downloading and listening. Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Podcast

Even though this is the HandgunWorld Podcast, every once in awhile the subject is about rifles or shotguns. So recently Ben Branam and I got together to discuss practicing with your self defense rifle. We also talked about ammunition selection and ballistics. Ben ran his AK in a recent carbine match and I ran my AR and we discussed our experience, respectively. If you’re also a rifle enthusiast, you will enjoy this podcast. Thanks for downloading and listening, Bob Mayne, HandgunWorld Podcast

How to spot trouble and selecting your concealed carry ammo are the two primary topics in this episode. Ben Branam and I discussed these 2 subjects on the way home from an IDPA match about a week ago. We discussed what to look for in someone who may want to harm you and then we transitioned to the subject of ammunition selection and ballistics. I also answer some listener email. Recently I had the chance to receive some sample holsters from High Noon Holsters. They sent them to me for review. After nearly a month of using them, I have decided to share my thoughts. They are excellent holsters. If you’re looking for a good leather holster you really need to give High Noon Holsters strong consideration. I will discuss things like ruff side out, sight tracks, reverse J Clips, reinforced mouths and the excellent High Noon belt for concealed carry. Many thanks to Alex at High Noon Holsters for giving me this opportunity. A follow up YouTube video will be coming shortly so I can put into pictures what I say on this show. I carried my Glock 19 and my Kahr PM9 for nearly a month in these holsters. One was the Alter Ego and the other was the Hideaway. I carried them appendix carry and even shot IDPA with the Alter Ego carried behind the hip. Listen carefully and you will hear my thoughts. Next week, Gabe Suarez will be one of my guests. If you have questions you would like me to ask him, please email them to me by this Friday, 15th. I’m also making another special announcement on this show, so thanks for listening. Indoor IDPA is a different experience than outdoor matches. This episode is a recap of a match I shot last Thursday. I also answer a couple of listener questions about Mili-Tec lubricant and slide play on a Glock. Then I will give you a before and after summary of some stages. I made some mistakes, also achieved some victories. I shot left handed and discussed lots of well designed stages for an indoor match. Shooting on the move, weak hand only shooting, interchanged ammo and shooting a modified Glock 19 in ESP category are subjects I discussed in the “before” segment. Segment 2 is about the results and what happened. I got some malfunction clearance practice and I even shot a magazine of carry ammo on one stage! I’ll tell you all about it. You’ll also hear a preview of next week’s episode with Steve Zopfi again as we discuss Brian Enos’ book Practical Shooting Beyond Fundamentals.

Listener feedback and comments are the topics this week. I’ve received a lot of emails and first let me say thank you! In this show I talk about a mixed bag of gun talk again, why I have 3 CCW licenses, Springfield XDM’s, Revolvers and some corrections to my revolver episode, open carry in Wisconsin, ammo recoil, self training with a handgun, gun free zones, IDPA and more. I’ll even discuss a listener’s email as to why he carries, it’s a good story, you’ll want to hear it. They are all in response to you, the loyal listener. Please remember to join me at the Gun Rights Radio Network Forum. I also cover some constructive criticism and compliments. I appreciate the feedback because it helps me improve the show. A mixed bag of gun talk is all I could think of to title this podcast. While driving I share some thoughts I have about pistol caliber carbines, sights, belts, holsters, ammo, 20 gauge shotguns, survival guns and more. This is a relatively short show, I’ve been pretty busy this week. Don’t forget to listen to the pistol caliber carbine podcast I did on my survival show. That was in favor of pistol caliber carbines, this show is a reason not to own one. You decide. I do talk about the great many benefits of the Marlin 1894c .357 magnum, buffalo bore ammo, Marlin Camp carbines and more. Don’t forget it’s down to the wire for the Freedom Raffle. It’s too late for you to mail the money but you can still use a debit or credit card. Drawing is this Friday Sept. 17th. “Shoot him to the ground” is probably what most civilians will be concerned about when defending themselves with a handgun. Tune in for information from Matthew Temkin on vertical indexing and an actual 911 call. I also expand and add to the subject from the Personal Armament Podcast regarding defensive accuracy. I’ll put in my 2 cents.

Carjacking happens more often than you think. I recently was asked about my thoughts on when to use your gun if you are carjacked. I’ve put some personal thoughts together and also borrow some ideas from No Nonsense Self Defense.com. It’s an excellent website, you should check it out.

Full Auto Weapons, RBCD Ammo and Oklahoma SB 1685. The is the first telephone interview on The Handgun World Show. In this episode I called up a friend of mine who want’s his name to be anonymous, but we discuss the Oklahoma SB 1685 which would join 8 other states in making firearms that are manufactured in Oklahoma exempt from Federal regulation. There are many differing opinions on this subject. I try to bring forth all viewpoints as I can so that there is something for everyone on this show. We also discussed RBCD ammo and fully automatic weapons and what is an assault rifle?
If you would like to connect with other like minded gun owners, please feel free to join me and other listeners on the forum at Today’s Survival Show (another podcast of mine.) We have an excellent forum there, click here.
Also, don’t forget to support the Handgun World Show if you can, but even if you can’t, I won’t be offended. Thanks for listening to me talk about one of my favorite hobbies!

Mouseguns and pocket pistols are excellent back up guns. In this episode I discuss how they are good back up guns but should not be used as your primary carry gun. I define what is a mousegun, what calibers are available, what ammo to use in them and how to carry mouseguns. I own Kahr 380. I’ll discuss that too. I also answer a listener’s question about RBCD ammo.
