What happens to your shooting when you get older and your eyesight isn’t what it used to be? Grant Cunningham wrote a nice article on this, that I found on the USCCA website. I added some listener voice mails and emails to this episode also.

If you like to talk about gear, guns, knives, ammo, flashlights, pens and spare magazines this is the episode for you. Thanks for downloading and listening, Bob Mayne, Handgunworld Podcast

Speed Sights are a new sighting concept. I have 2 sets of them. One of them has been sent to me for testing and evaluation. It’s hard to find a set of sights that give me extremely fast front sight acquisition and the ability to take a precision shot and have tritium inserts for lowlight conditions. I really believe Speed Sights give me all 3. I’m very impressed with them. So Don, the owner of Speed Sights is my guest on this episode. We discuss how the human eye works when using sights to fire a handgun. Thanks for downloading and listening, Bob Mayne, Handgunworld Podcast

It’s often said that most gunfights happen at night or in low light. Yet most people don’t train in low light situations regularly. If all you do is practice in daylight, how will you be confident enough to hit your target if, God forbid, your attacked at night? So, Roger Phillips is my guest on this episode to discuss this subject. He teaches a lot of low light and night fighting courses. This episode will probably make you re-think a few things about how you practice and what gear you choose for your handgun.

Subcompact guns are extremely popular for concealed carry. So this episode is about the advantages and disadvantages of small semi automatics, revolvers and other guns called subcompact guns. We analyzed Kahr PM9, Glock 26 and J frame revolvers and small .380 autos. Jon Payne also joins me for an interview about subcompact handguns. Thanks for downloading and listening. Too much discussion takes place about guns and shooting equipment that really doesn’t matter too much. What I mean by that is that it doesn’t help your ability to shoot and defend yourself too much. My guest, Jon Hodoway, on this show really makes this point quite nicely. He also recently won the Central Florida Tactical Conference shooting match. He’s also a firearms trainer for the Massad Ayoob Group. Among other topics such as Glocks that sometimes jam, range rental guns, how to test a gun, and the Ron Avery drill, we spend quite a bit of time talking about the less than important stuff that internet ninja’s and internet commandos spend a lot of time on. You may find yourself asking the question, what should I really do to improve my defensive shooting skills? I think you will find that answer in this podcast. – Bob Mayne, Handgun World Show

A mixed bag of gun talk is all I could think of to title this podcast. While driving I share some thoughts I have about pistol caliber carbines, sights, belts, holsters, ammo, 20 gauge shotguns, survival guns and more. This is a relatively short show, I’ve been pretty busy this week. Don’t forget to listen to the pistol caliber carbine podcast I did on my survival show. That was in favor of pistol caliber carbines, this show is a reason not to own one. You decide. I do talk about the great many benefits of the Marlin 1894c .357 magnum, buffalo bore ammo, Marlin Camp carbines and more. Don’t forget it’s down to the wire for the Freedom Raffle. It’s too late for you to mail the money but you can still use a debit or credit card. Drawing is this Friday Sept. 17th. Calling your shots is an advanced shooting skill. On this show, I bring back Steve Z again for another interview. He was on episode 79 if you recall. We talk about “calling your shots.” I have to admit, I’m still not sure if I do it, or how to do it, but if you really want to be good at competitive shooting and in my opinion, defensive shooting, I think it would be good for you to get to the level of being able to call your shots. We also talk about Brian Enos’ book, Practical Shooting, Beyond Fundamentals and forum. In the first segment I share some more listener feedback that continues to roll in. Also remember there’s only one week left to the “Freedom Raffle” so quit procrastinating and support my show, the Gun Rights Radio Network and the Second Amendment Foundation.
